HEAD TO TOES
👣👣HEAD TO TOES TUTORIAL 👣👣
A few members requested a tutorial based on a tag I made and shared recently, in which you will learn how to animate feet and other things. So, here it is! If you have not ventured into animation yet, here's my hope; that you will give it a try. It opens a whole new world to tag makers!
Ready .... let's go!
Open an 800 by 750 Pixel blank canvas.
1. You may want to open the CURTAIN tube to use as a color palette for your color choices. Use your color dropper tool and select a color found in the curtain and make that your foreground color. Set your background to one of the much lighter shades of purple found in the curtain.
2. Left toolbar, down to your ellipse shape. Set line width to 10 and draw out an oval shape on your canvas, one that will allow you size wise to place the curtains, bed and nightstand. Once drawn out go up to OBJECTS/ALIGN/CENTER on Canvas.
3. Choose inside your ellipse with your magic wand. EFFECTS/FILTER EFFECTS/PHOTO EFFEX FILTER/SCANLINES. Use this setting:
Name this layer: TAG BACK NOISE
4. Open your curtain image if you don't already have it open. Edit/Copy/Paste As New Layer. Move the curtain so the curtain rod is just above the top border of your TAG BACK. Be sure it is centered, you can use your stripes on your wallpaper to center.
5. NAME THAT LAYER CURTAIN
Go to curtain layer and EFFECTS/3D EFFECTS/DROP SHADOW/-3/3/Opacity 30/Blur 0. Reverse the apply again.
6. Open GIRL IN BED tube. Edit/Copy/Paste As New Layer. Images/Image Effects/Offset/Vertical -77. Wrap selected. Horizontal is 0. Name Layer: BED
7. Apply same drop shadow effect to bed as on curtains.
8. Open NIGHTSTAND. Edit/Copy/Paste As New Layer. Move nightstand to side of bed near headboard on either side, your choice. Name layer NIGHTSTAND.
9. DUPLICATE BED LAYER. Name the new duplicated layer BED 2.
10. You are now going to work on the feet so the BED 2 layer has feet going in opposite direction for animation. (If you don't feel you can animate, then skip this section and do not duplicate the bed layer. I hope, however, you decide to give it a whirl.
11. ZOOM IN to 300% on feet. Use your freehand selection tool to outline the left foot to near perfection. Try to outline it with the freehand tool as close as possible like this:
With foot still selected/Edit/Copy/Cut/Paste As New Layer
Move to right foot and do same exact process. You will now have to empty spaces where feet were and two separate feet which have been pasted to your canvas. Go to each foot and move it back into the space where it had been. Match it perfectly, like a puzzle piece. Name First foot layer as FIRST FOOT. Name second: SECOND FOOT.
12. When you have your feet in place, go to first foot and with pick tool select foot and use the tool to turn it to the right.
13. Do same with the other foot so the toes just meet. Be sure you are NOT moving the feet up and down, just simply right and left.
14. Go to BED 2 layer, the image with the feet cut out. Left tool bar, down nearly at the bottom, WARP BRUSH. This is the tool you are going to use to fill in the cut out spots so it appears seamless.
Start in the area above the feet. The blanket. Place your warp brush and pull the patterns and colors to fill in the empty spots. Do not get frustrated. If you don't like how it appears, edit, undo and try again. Once you have the blanket area done, let's move down to the pajamas around the feet.
15. Use color dropper to pick a color from the inside border of the pajama pant by the feet. Once you have the correct purple, left side tool bar, AIRBRUSH. Set airbrush to size 7 and color in the cut out area so it appears solid and complete like this:
Use the warp tool to pull the lighter shade or purple around the edges down to outline the darker portion of the inside of the pajama leg. Once you have acquired a look you like, merge the bed 2 and the feet together by merge down. Make sure you do NOT merge anything but the two feet and BED 2 together. Rename BED 2.
16. Go back to BED 1 and duplicate. Move this duplicate layer beneath Bed 1 and Bed 2 and rename BED 3. Go to your warp tool again and on the blanket just below her hands pull the blanket up in same shape slightly so it will appear as though she is breathing. Like this:
17. Open Bottom Back and copy and paste onto canvas/arrange/send to bottom. Open RUG and edit/copy/paste as new layer/arrange send to bottom. Move these two adds into this position:
The "rug" area is where you will add text if you desire it.
18. Image/Resize/85% Image Crop close to each border.
19. Close out all THREE BEDS. Once those are closed out, Images/Resize/86% ALL LAYERS NOT CHECKED. Arrange/Send to Bottom.
