BLUEBIRDS OF HAPPINESS - BY BRENDA

Skill Level - Medium Easy

Preset Shape included in folder - place in your MyPSPFiles - preset shapes.

Filters Required: Xenofex 2 - Constellation and DSB Flux - Filters Unlimited 2

1. Open a 515/540 blank raster canvas.

2. Set background color to a medium pink: #e87984 (For beginners this is Hex code and it is found in your materials palette in colors here in the blue shade next to HTML.

4. With foreground color off, draw out a large rectangle that nearly fills the canvas, leaving space around all edges to place a border, so about 1/8 of an inch all the way around. Objects/align/center on canvas, which is found at top tool bar under objects. Convert to raster.

5. Go up to selections/select all/float/defloat/modify/select/selection borders/8/add new raster layer/flood fill the selection on the new layer with #07629f

6. Select inside the pink with magic wand. Effects/filter effects/photo effex/scanlines: these settings:

7. Apply. Do same filter but this time uncheck vertical toggle. Select one of the dark pink little squares with magic wand, this will select all of them, right click on layer palette and promote selection to layer. Name this layer: NOISE 1.

8. Set background color to #1285c2. Find SHAPE 301 that was in your supply folder. You should have moved it to your preset shapes file. With foreground color off, draw out the shape in the center of your rectangle like this:

9: Objects/align/center on canvas/convert to raster layer.

10. Still on this layer, selections/select all/float/defloat/modify/select/selection borders/5/add new raster layer, flood fill selection on new layer with the same deeper blue on your outer frame as shown above.

11. Go back to the blue shape and select inside with magic wand. Effects/filter effects/photo effex/scanlines/same settings as above, but with vertical toggle not checked. You should now have this:

Select inside darker blue of image stripes and promote selection to layer, name this layer NOISE 2.

12. Set background color to #9cdcea, which is a pale blue. Draw out another rectangle over the top of your interior shape. It should be about three inches by inches. Objects/align/center on canvas. Convert to raster layer. Select inside the pale blue with magic wand/effects/filter effects/filters unlimited 2/background designers 101/twister with these settings:

12. On top layer, open BLUEBIRD. Edit/copy/paste as new layer/image/effects/offset/horizontal 0/vertical 40/custom check/wrap check. Duplicate bird. Name top BIRD 1 and the other BIRD 2. Close out BIRD 1. Open BIRD 2. Use freehand selection tool to outline around neck and head like this:

Right click layer palette and promote selection to layer. Name layer HEAD. Still selected move back down to bird 2 and edit/cut.

13. Move to HEAD. Use pick tool to move head down so bird's beak is touching baby bird's beak. Like this:

14, Go to your CLONE TOOL found on left tool bar. Select. Move to HEAD layer. Use clone tool to fill in missing area connecting bird's head to body. Like this:

15. You can also move to bird's body and use clone tool to clone up to head. Keep cloning until you have it filled in to your satisfaction. This is mine:

16. When you are finished cloning merge head down into body. Make sure BIRD 2 is still named.

17. Set background color to white, foreground color off, line width 5. Draw out the preset shape FABULOUS FRAME found in your supply folder on a new layer just below your birds. Draw it so the outer border touch top and side of pink rectangle, halfway down the rectangle from the top like this:

18. Convert to raster layer. Duplicate/merge down into duplicate. Duplicate again/image/flip.

19. Name the white border frame: CONSTELLATION.

20. Go to BIRD 1. Effects/3d effects/apply drop shadow/3/-3/Opacity 30/Blur 3.00. Apply same to BIRD 2.

If you choose NOT to animate, close out one of the birds, merge visible and name tag.

ANIMATION STATION

Close out BIRD 2 OPEN BIRD 1.

21. Go to NOISE 1/effects/filter effects/DSB Flux/add bright noise/70. Go to NOISE 2 and apply same.

22. Go to CONSTELLATION layer. Effects/filter effects/Xenofex 2/Constellation/2.00/2/3/3/100/100 check keep image transparent. Apply.

Layers/Merge Visible/Save as PSP 1.
