I'VE BEEN FRAMED!

Cluster frames, we all love them, so many trying to make them in AI, then you have to remove backgrounds, tube and perfect.  With the process below, you won't have to do any of that, and you will have cute and adorable frames for any type of project.  I have included MANY frame preset shapes in your supply folder.  Move them into your preset shape folder.

1.  CHOOSE one of the frames.  For purpose of the tutorial below I have chosen Shape 633.

2.  Set your foreground color to match the elements I've provided.  Turn off background.  Select line width of 19.  Draw out the frame on a 900 by 900 blank canvas.

3.  Selections/select all/float/defloat/modify select selection borders.

Add a new raster layer and move it below your frame.  With the selections still active, flood fill the outer frame with a complementing color, and the inside frame with a dark, I used black.

4.  Select the inner frame, (the first you did) and apply filter effect/photo effex/scanlines with these settings:

Here are my results thus far:

5. SELECT ALL/float/defloat/modify select selection borders/7.

Add new raster layer, move it below your frame.  With selection still active, flood fill with another color of choice.

I have placed many elements in the supply folder.  You can mix and match.  There will be another folder inside that folder with different elements so you can create more frames to share.

Add the elements around the outside, inside, wherever you choose on your frame.  When you make additional frames from the other preset shapes provided, always use the above instructions to create the frame base.  You can apply different filter effects, different patterns, etc.

Let's continue with this one.  I am adding elements, snowflakes and other Christmas items found in your folder.  On the snowflakes, OR any of the items, to get a STICKER effect, you would open the element, size it the way you want it, then go to selections/select all/float/defloat/modify select selection borders/6 add new raster layer, move below element, flood fill with white.  Do again, only use 4 as your border width and flood fill with a darker COLOR, ONLY if you want to, you can leave it as the sticker effect with just the white if you choose.

Play with layering.  Put larger floral shapes under snowflakes and other elements for matting.  Hang dangles from corners.  Add words, ribbons, bows, and other elements, always layering AND, important for a proper look, apply a drop shadow of 3 -3 opacity 20, blur 0 to the elements.

This is my result:

Less is more, keep that in mind.  Shadowing is necessary, don't forget it.  Do not be afraid to play with different combos and additions.  On framing, always remember to add to a frame with the select all/float/defloat option, then add patterns with filters or seamless patterns.

Let's try another:

Open FRAME JOB 4.  Set foreground color to a color from some of the elements in your folder.  Line width to 8.  Draw out in center of 900 by 900 canvas.  Convert to raster layer.  Selections, select all, float, defloat, modify select selection borders, 5, add new raster layer, flood fill the selection with another complementing color on top border and another color on inside border.  Once done, use magic wand to select inside on the solid color of your original frame and effects/textures/weave, set to 7/7 and color white, apply.  *Note: you can use any filter effect on your inside color.  Be original!

I used the bow and ribbon and place it across the top from the inside edge of the frame.  Apply drop shadow 2 -2 Opacity 20, blur 0.  Once you apply the shadow, use your rectangle selection tool and cut off the end of the ribbon at the left side of the frame so the shadow doesn't show.

Begin adding elements to your frame, always applying shadow and always layering.  I used the word JINGLE this time, but I applied the extra border for sticker effect.  In fact, you should do that with each element except the bow and ribbon.

Another:

Let's try AUTUMN

Open your preset shape FRAME IT UP_BG 24.

Set foreground color to ORANGE #ca7844

Set background color to CREAM/BEIGE #e1d1b5

Set line width to 10.  Draw out the shape in the center of the 900 by 900 canvas.  Draw it out in circle shape, not oval.  Fill to within 1/2 of sides.  Selections/select all/float/defloat/modify select selection borders/6, add new raster layer, flood fill the border selections with a darker green. Do same process, select all/float/defloat/modify select selection borders 8.  Add new raster layer, flood fill the border selection with darker orange outside and inside.

Now for a VERY interesting filter effect, select inside the cream of the frame and effects/filter effects/Filters unlimited 2 (Italian Editors_Border Con Luci) with these settings:

Apply then without UNSELECTING go to Photo Effex/Scanlines and apply these settings:

Do NOT be afraid to play with the settings on either of these filters.  What you like, go for it!

Now, apply elements.  Remember to apply sticker effect borders, either white or darker color.  Remember to layer.  I outlined my butterfly, used a spray element to make it's antennae, used leaves, flowers, and pumpkin for my element.  I used word art to write FALL on my pumpkin.

My RESULT:
