RECOLOURING -WITHOUT FILTERS (PLUGINS)

Open the image you want to recolour.  I’m using an AI image that I created.

This image is a png file so is already a layer. If you have a flat jpg then promote background to layer.

Select the area you want to colourise, for this tip, I’ll just recolour part of the shirt so you can see how effective it is.

I used lasso tool, set as below.

The secret is to make very short selections and click your mouse, especially when going around a bend.  Remember if you make a mistake, hit your delete key on the keyboard and it will undo the last step to save you deleting all you've done already.

Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colourise and set  both to 0

Now Adust/Brightness/Contrast/Brightness Contrast and set to  Brightness 70 and Contrast to 0

With your material properites open, use your colour picker to select the colour you want to change to.  I picked a nice warm green.

Take note of the properties for the colour you selected.

It’s the two sets of numbers indicated by the red arrows below.  These are my Hue and Saturation settings for the green I picked

Now I can go back to adjust/hue saturation/colourise

Enter the numbers for Hue and Saturation that you kept note of and enter the

H number (Hue) into the first box and the S number (Saturation) into the second box like below

Click ok and your image should  have changed colour

That’s it done.  It takes about a minute to do this.

Make sure you zoom in a lot when using lasso tool.
