A STITCH IN TIME
Many of us had grandmothers who sewed the garments worn by her family. My own Grandmother had one of these sewing machines that had been passed down by her Grandmother. My aunt, who did sew, inherited it and created a prom dress for one of my proms in high school. It was not powered by electricity but by a foot pump and side wheel that was turned by hand. They say that days gone by were simpler, but our Great Grandmothers and their mothers had harder lives, working fields, making clothing, washing by hand. I look back and I marvel at what my female ancestors achieved and how hard they had to work. Memories not only serve to preserve these things in our hearts, but inspire us to be better women ourselves!

Open a 1300 by 1150 blank canvas.
Choose a color that will complement your main tube, that being the Seamstress or one of the colors in the sewing elements. Choose your preset rectangle shape, with line width set to 15, foreground in the color you chose, and background white, draw out the rectangle into a square in the middle of your canvas, then OBJECTS/ALIGN/Center in Canvas.
Select the border with your magic wand. Images/Texture/Texture/Choose Texture provided in supply folder and using these settings:
Place the texture provided in supply folder in your MYPSPFILES/Textures
As you can see it leaves a sewing edge on your border with stitching inside the border.
Place the STITCHED UP Preset Shapes in your MYPSPFILES/PresetShapes folder.
Set your background color to a deeper shade of your border color. Turn off foreground color. With line width set to 2, draw out the STITCHED UP_BG 8 preset shape inside your back above, just slightly within the borders. Convert to raster. Choose same shape and colors and draw out the shape on the outside of your back above, line width 2 and just outside the border of your tag. My results:
Open Pattern Orchid35 in your workspace. Go to patterns and find that pattern and place in the foreground color. Set size to 144.
Use your magic wand to select INSIDE your tag back, the white interior. Promote selection to layer. (You do that by right clicking on your image in the layer palette)
With still selected, flood fill with the pattern. In layer palette right click and select properties. In the Opacity box put 44.
When we teach layer palette, right click, it means to go over to the right side of your paint shop where your layers are shown and listed. Select the layer we are showing in tutorial, right click, (this means the right button on your mouse) and choose from the options. Promote selection to layer was the first, PROPERTIES was the second.
