Once supplies are downloaded, unzip and move into your windows font file. I suggest moving one at a time and remembering the name to make it easier to find in your paintshop drop down text tool!
Nearly every tag or project I create has preset shapes as part of the finished image. I can't imagine making things without them! From tag backs to embellishments, and in a later lesson, cluster flowers, frames, etc, you will find that preset shapes are essential! They are NOT hard to create at all. A few easy steps, and you're beginning a wonderful library. There are no shortages of DINGBAT FONTS online, FREE! Just search for free dingbat fonts and download those you can see becoming a terrific preset shape! So let's get started. You'll be turning out shapes all of the time!
1. Open a 600 by 600 blank canvas.
2. Set your foreground to NULL, meaning no color, and your background to black. Pull your layer palette out further away from side of paint shop as shown in the image below. This makes creating shapes much faster and easier.
3. File - Down to text tool - find your dingbat in your drop down menu, set font size to 180. Click on shift key to stay on, and type out A in the center of your canvas.
4. Once you have your shape drawn out move over to layer palette where it says VECTOR 1. Right click on VECTOR 1.
5. NAME your Vector. For purposes of this tutorial I named my new vector shape FLOWER CART_BG 1. Once you have named it, highlight the name and copy it.
6. Now that you have named your new vector, go to top tool bar and click on OBJECTS. Find CONVERT TEXT TO CURVES - AS SINGLE SHAPE AND click on that.
7. Back to OBJECTS. Find properties. Click on properties.
8. After you click on properties a text box will open. Place cursor in box and edit/paste. The name you gave your original vector will be in the box because you copied it earlier. NOW...VERY IMPORTANT. Leave the name as shown EXCEPT where you have the 1, change that to 2. Before you click ok, copy the name you just placed in the box, then click ok.
9. Go over to FILE. Find EXPORT - over to SHAPE. A text box will open. Paste your name into that box and click ok.
You now have create a SHAPE! Go through the entire alphabet, creating ONLY those you like, no need to muddy up your library with shapes you will not use or like.
My challenge to you, create a set of shapes to share in group.
To preview the set, open a large canvas and draw out your shapes one by one, side by side. You can put a colored layer under them if you like, then image/add border/add a colored border.
Now you have them previewed. To zip those shapes into a file to send through group, go to your MY PSP FILES folder. Go down to preset shapes. Open folder, right click in blank area and sort by date modified. Your new shapes will be right at the top. Select first and holding shift key down move down to the last. Zip into a file that you will name.
